Research interests
chemical and temporal evolution of the Earth's interior (mantle, crust and core)
diverse cosmochemical and geological processes, by measuring isotopic abundances in natural radioactive decay systems (e.g., rhenium-osmium) (sediments)
measuring major, minor and trace element concentrations (Fe, Mn, K, Na, Ca, Sc, Cr, Co, Ni, Ga, Br, As, Sb, Ba, La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Yb, Lu, Hf, Ta, Ir, Au, Th, U) and Os-isotopes in rocks and minerals, by combining
(a) non-destructive neutron activation analysis (powerful tool in the fields of geochemistry and cosmochemistry) at the TRIGA -reactor and
(b) mass spectrometry analysis at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz
Geo- and Cosmochemistry of Platinum Group Elements, Re, Au (HSE), Rare Earth Elements (REE), As, Sb, Ta and other trace elements
(a) in meteorites
(b) impact melt rocks (impact craters)
(c) mantle rocks
(d) crustal rocks
(e) environmental samples (soil)
(f) and ores
